How Unicode Strikethrough Works

The combining long stroke overlay (U+0336) is a mark that draws a horizontal line through whatever character it follows. This generator walks your text and appends that mark after each visible character, which is the same family of technique as zalgo, just one specific mark. Double strike stacks a second U+0336 for a heavier line. That is different from a word processor strikethrough button, from HTML strikethrough, and from Discord ~~double tildes~~, none of which survive in a bio or nickname.

When to Cross Out Text

Use Unicode strikethrough for Discord jokes, sold prices, fake edits, and meme captions that need a word visibly withdrawn. It is the right tool when the destination has no formatting bar. It is the wrong tool when you meant barred letterforms: that look lives on the stroked font page. Keep searchable names and links in unstruck letters so people can still find them.

What is a strikethrough text generator?+

Is this the same as the stroked font?+

Yes. Delete the combining marks or paste the original line from the input box. The generator does not change your source text; it only builds a struck copy to paste.
Does it work on numbers and emoji?+
Yes. Every visible character, including digits, punctuation, spaces, and emoji, gets the stroke. Emoji coverage depends on the app’s font: some draw a clean line, others put the mark beside the emoji. Turn on double strike if a single line looks too thin.
